Mu: A group for Minor-Attracted People

Welcome to Mu, a collaboration between thought leaders in the MAP (Minor-Attracted Person) community, and its allies.

Set up in 2024, as an information/communication hub for the MAP community, we are aiming to become an umbrella organization for other such groups in the coming years.

The MAP community has long been frustrated with the conflation of sexual attraction to minors and sexual abuse of children. The word 'pedophile', which originally referred only to people sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children, immediately conjures up nightmarish images of a middle-aged man violently assaulting a small child. For both Pedophilic (attracted to pre-pubescent children), and Hebephilic (attracted to older minors) MAPs, this is not what we do, or even want to do. Just as most adult-attracted people are disgusted by sexual assault, most MAPs are repulsed by violent or exploitative acts against minors.

Since 2018, visibility for MAPs has increased exponentially, but we are still subject to a torrent of misinformation and bad-faith attacks in the media. Mu aims to find a number of common-ground positions supported by most people within our community, and reflect them to society. As a group, we are as diverse as society itself, so our editors are not afraid to explain points of disagreement. As well as a place for open debate, we are aiming to become an informative, multi-language information source on MAP Culture and History and a central hub for the wider MAP Community.

The Mu committee

Mu has an enclave-circle committee, currently composed of four individuals who must vote unanimously to admit new members:

  1. Brian Ribbon [Strategist] Cofounder

  2. Percy Shelley [Communications Officer] Cofounder

  3. Jim Burton [Treasurer] Cofounder

  4. Tommaso Battista [Languages Editor]

Not only does our committee include those who have been active in other MAP organizations in the past, it also includes the first person to utilize the full terminology "Minor-Attracted Person", in a series of blogs and online comments.

What does Mu do?

  • Mu will meet once every year at a predetermined location, and vote on initiatives aimed at better representing its community.

  • Mu will consult with its own community in order to compile reference guides and consensus position statements where necessary.

  • Mu will offer representation at the media level, and liaise with universities and other institutions, aiming to open new dialogues.

  • Mu will open discussion, editorial and news fora on its own communication channels to promote better visibility of, and understanding about MAPs. We aim to boost morale among MAPs, contributing to healthy, non-offending lifestyles. Our ideal is that of the "egosyntonic" (self-accepting) MAP.
